The specialised register is published in CENTRAL in the Cochrane Library. Cochrane contributors can also access the register via the Cochrane Register of Studies (CRS) Online. The registers can be searched by adding 'and SR-CF' to the end of your search strategy.

Content

The editorial team has developed and continues to maintain databases of CF trials (“specialised register”) as a resource for our review authors; and for all our reviews we undertake searches of the Cystic Fibrosis Trials Register. The register is compiled from electronic searches of the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL) (updated each new issue of the Cochrane Library), weekly searches of MEDLINE and hand searching of relevant journals and conferences.

We only include randomised controlled trials (RCTs) or quasi-RCTs (or those that could possibly be either) as defined by the Baltimore Cochrane Centre Hand Search Manual, which evaluate interventions for managing or treating CF. Any trials identified are reviewed by the Information Specialist (IS) to ensure that they meet the criteria for inclusion and are then added to our trials register which is “coded” with keywords for each intervention so it is possible to limit a search to a specific area of interest.

The Cystic Fibrosis Trials Register is compiled from database searches (MEDLINE, Embase and CENTRAL) and the hand searching of journals (Journal of Cystic Fibrosis and Pediatric Pulmonology) and conference abstracts (European Cystic Fibrosis Conference, North American Cystic Fibrosis Conference, International Cystic Fibrosis Congress, Cystic Fibrosis Club Abstracts, American Thoracic Society, other). Details given below.
